We are certain you will be just as excited as we are with what is happening in the Garden. Clary Gardens is an emerging public garden that is being developed in Eastern Ohio, amid the Appalachian foothills. Founded in 2001, the Garden is currently in its early stages of development and the public is encouraged to visit as the garden grows! The existing landscape includes 20 acres of rolling hills, spring-fed ponds, sandstone outcroppings, and a ravine. Over the past several years, many native and exotic perennials, trees, and shrubs have been added to the landscape. The first phase of the Rose Garden is complete and an amphitheater has been built into the hillside of a ravine. We also added a ½ mile trail in the Woodlands that lets visitors meander through sandstones.

Dogwood Festival is a community celebration of the visual and performing arts. When we try to explain the vitality of arts and culture in Coshocton we point to two things: 1–Coshocton is the birthplace of the Advertising Art Industry (in the 1900’s we boasted the second highest per capita population of artists east of the Mississippi) & 2–our deeply rooted Appalachian citizenry. This is worth celebrating!

Coshocton has carried the nickname Crowtown for some time. No one seems to know exactly where the nickname came from but it is somehow linked to motorcycles. In 2008, when crows began to congregate for the winter in significant enough numbers to warrant propane cannons and pyrotechnics, the name began to fit like a glove. Coshocton. Crow resort town, Crowtown. This is a funky little festival with an arts & dance twist.

Journey back through time to…The LIVE Nativity. The Live Nativity, in its 15th year, has become a holiday tradition for many in the past. Luminaries light the way as visitors drive through the LIVE scenes depicting the birth of Christ, and other well-known events of His life. This ten minute journey begins at the market place in Bethlehem where the dreaded tax collector awaits, the Inn which is full for the evening leads to the stable where Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus find rest. A host of heavenly angels alert the shepherds guarding there sheep with good news of Jesus’ birth, while the Wise Men worship the newborn Christ child. The journey is completed with scenes of the most told stories about Jesus…the carpenter’s shop, Jesus walking on water, a soldier praying at the cross and Jesus at the tomb.
